I very unwittingly missed a day because of sheer exhaustion - not a good enough excuse, I know - sorry about that! I have therefore, included two poems for today to make up for this oversight.
Falling for fall
Sunlight filters through the leaves
Crowning the trees in blazing colour
No more delectable time of year
Than this honey-gold autumn flavour
Making merry while the sun still shines
Knowing that the north wind is getting ready
To blow our cares back into focus
While we long for the days of warmth and plenty
Happy again
Yes, that bleakness has gone
I am again ready to sing my song
I know the future is looking bright
No more sorrow or loss of sight
Focused more keenly on what is true
Knowing that we will make it through
Confident in the spirits that support us all
Knowing that we can never fall
An attempt to write a poem a day for a whole year... no guarantees on quality - just quantity!
A poem a day to keep brain rot away
Join me as I attempt to create a poem a day... whether awesome, bawdy, corny, dreadful, entertaining, fabulous, gross or hilariously hokey, I will try to string together everything from couplets to limericks - just for the fun of fiddling with words!
May 3rd, 2012
Today is quite a special day. I have actually reached the one year mark. I posted my first poem on May 3rd, 2011. I have had a great time doing this. It has basically become a habit and I don’t really want to stop. So, I am going to continue this thread because I have enjoyed it so much. It’s true that most of the poems were terrible. Some were good (or at least I thought so!) but mostly they were a reflection of something I either saw that day, thought of, felt or heard. In any case, I hope you have enjoyed the ride as much as I have. Here’s to letting the word out – come what may!
