Falling asleep so slowly
A gentle comforting haze
Covering the world so wholly
With a hypnotic kind of gaze
An attempt to write a poem a day for a whole year... no guarantees on quality - just quantity!
A poem a day to keep brain rot away
Join me as I attempt to create a poem a day... whether awesome, bawdy, corny, dreadful, entertaining, fabulous, gross or hilariously hokey, I will try to string together everything from couplets to limericks - just for the fun of fiddling with words!
May 3rd, 2012
Today is quite a special day. I have actually reached the one year mark. I posted my first poem on May 3rd, 2011. I have had a great time doing this. It has basically become a habit and I don’t really want to stop. So, I am going to continue this thread because I have enjoyed it so much. It’s true that most of the poems were terrible. Some were good (or at least I thought so!) but mostly they were a reflection of something I either saw that day, thought of, felt or heard. In any case, I hope you have enjoyed the ride as much as I have. Here’s to letting the word out – come what may!

Inspired again
You are my muse
I knew it from the very start
I recognized your soul
And felt your beating heart
Not a physical part
Of my current steady life
But an uplifting source
Of the very purest light
Your graceful form and lovely voice
Your inherent style and flare
Your constant love and true devotion
Your focused faith and utmost care
Every last fiber
Of who you are
Speaks mighty volumes
To this fading star
I knew it from the very start
I recognized your soul
And felt your beating heart
Not a physical part
Of my current steady life
But an uplifting source
Of the very purest light
Your graceful form and lovely voice
Your inherent style and flare
Your constant love and true devotion
Your focused faith and utmost care
Every last fiber
Of who you are
Speaks mighty volumes
To this fading star

I'm a Victim
I want you, can't you see
I'm not rid of you, I'm not yet free
I saw your face and knew inside
That those smoldering embers I still must hide
A desert voice of pain and rust
Flowing through the brittle dust
An ache made real despite the glare
A thoughtless whisper that I wouldn't dare
I'll see you soon in your electric glow
I'll be there swooning from the front row
A sweaty reminder of youth that's lost
But I still will fight despite the cost
For as your words fill my soul
I know for that night I'll be made whole
I'm not rid of you, I'm not yet free
I saw your face and knew inside
That those smoldering embers I still must hide
A desert voice of pain and rust
Flowing through the brittle dust
An ache made real despite the glare
A thoughtless whisper that I wouldn't dare
I'll see you soon in your electric glow
I'll be there swooning from the front row
A sweaty reminder of youth that's lost
But I still will fight despite the cost
For as your words fill my soul
I know for that night I'll be made whole

Say again?
Words can slice
Far better than a knife
But you're still young
Far smarter than everyone
One day you'll understand
On a cushion I hope you'll land
Far better than a knife
But you're still young
Far smarter than everyone
One day you'll understand
On a cushion I hope you'll land
