An attempt to write a poem a day for a whole year... no guarantees on quality - just quantity!
A poem a day to keep brain rot away
Today is quite a special day. I have actually reached the one year mark. I posted my first poem on May 3rd, 2011. I have had a great time doing this. It has basically become a habit and I don’t really want to stop. So, I am going to continue this thread because I have enjoyed it so much. It’s true that most of the poems were terrible. Some were good (or at least I thought so!) but mostly they were a reflection of something I either saw that day, thought of, felt or heard. In any case, I hope you have enjoyed the ride as much as I have. Here’s to letting the word out – come what may!

Recharge
Knowing with smiles there's much to gain
Hoping to find a safer spot
One that's cooler & not so hot
A flickering moment of cool respite
To recharge batteries & clear the sight

Stuck
A cutting word is all it takes
From there it's easy to make mistakes
Bruised and hurting we sit and stare
The silence an almighty dare
To talk is something very hard
It would mean letting down the guard

Shine
Of brilliance I have not
No answers have I got
But perseverance counts a lot
And all I have is what I've sought

Condo
Splash away
We've come to play
No more cares
We'll be caught unawares
But it won't matter
'Cause it's fun we're after

Tongue-tied in F
From Freddy's final frankfurter feast
So he fanned the flames lest they fizzled first
And left them flaming fast and fierce

Ahead
The light is here to stay
We've gone through this before
But we've forgotten yesterday
We know the way forward
And we've let go the past
We're full steam ahead
For the wind has caught our mast

90
Of nuance, nerves and nectar
A remembrance of golden summers
When youth was ours forever
A life lived today
But holding on to yesterday
Hoping to repay
All our sins before we're grey

Tweet world
Until we've had our fill
Then I'll turn you off
And my cap I'll doff
We'll meet again
My virtual friend!

Forward!
As long we love everyone
Leave the past far behind
Press play, forget rewind

Jumble
You know I've got nothing to say
You stand there and I'm over here
And for some reason I fight with fear
We must have met back in the past
And now we're strangers, but the bond still lasts

Mmmm rhyme
To the mangy mongrel moguls
Who mangled her many mannequins
While making movie models
Again, this is for the kiddies as a lesson in alliteration.

No go
Just when you thought the wind
Would always fill your sails
A mighty calm settles down
It's something that never fails
Now the oars must come out
If we want to move
But it's never just enough
Until our strength we can prove

Daycare's over
Where a breathless whisper is too loud
And the falling dust is akin to a shout
In moment's now the silence will go
In a flurry of movement and sound
Of friendships lost and found
But for now we hang on to this
A beautiful minute of utter bliss

Question?
When will we feel the ease
Of the green being full?
Of knowing that our larders
Are overflowing and bountiful ?

Odd reflection haiku
Is like finding inner peace
Something very hard to do

Son
I love reading to you
Watching you live throught the words
I love enjoying the adventure with you
As we soak up different worlds

Half way there
Already half way there
Never wondering if others care
A life of which others dream
Swimming easily in this collective stream

Thoughts
A daily dish with friends
Is the best of all ends
When contemplating what we're worth
It's best not to settle on our girth

20 minutes
Not for you, for me!
I'm primed
I'm heading for the lights
Looking for some serendipity

Butterfly
And White will cool you down
Green will still your soul
And Blue will make your whole
Black will shape the void
And Yellow will fill the sky
While Grey will bring the rain
And a Rainbow will erase the pain
