My beautiful green and clueless elf
Nothing more enchanting than yourself
Those sincere and pleading eyes
Elicit languorous, longing sighs
While your dulcet, warming tones
Send shivers through my bones
An attempt to write a poem a day for a whole year... no guarantees on quality - just quantity!
A poem a day to keep brain rot away
Join me as I attempt to create a poem a day... whether awesome, bawdy, corny, dreadful, entertaining, fabulous, gross or hilariously hokey, I will try to string together everything from couplets to limericks - just for the fun of fiddling with words!
May 3rd, 2012
Today is quite a special day. I have actually reached the one year mark. I posted my first poem on May 3rd, 2011. I have had a great time doing this. It has basically become a habit and I don’t really want to stop. So, I am going to continue this thread because I have enjoyed it so much. It’s true that most of the poems were terrible. Some were good (or at least I thought so!) but mostly they were a reflection of something I either saw that day, thought of, felt or heard. In any case, I hope you have enjoyed the ride as much as I have. Here’s to letting the word out – come what may!

Looking back
I fear that I've forgotten
How bold and brave I was
Back when I was just a youth
Following my very own laws
Now I look back and I see
A cautious, retiring frame
Someone more preoccupied
With living a life most tame
Is it that time marched on,
Leaving me wiser now?
Or is it the younger faces,
Cowing me by showing me how?
How bold and brave I was
Back when I was just a youth
Following my very own laws
Now I look back and I see
A cautious, retiring frame
Someone more preoccupied
With living a life most tame
Is it that time marched on,
Leaving me wiser now?
Or is it the younger faces,
Cowing me by showing me how?

Red Sigh
Although I long to touch your face
That smooth yet rugged brow
I know that we're forbidden
Each held back by a sacred vow
You're heart-felt song calls to me
And answer you I must
Despite the danger to my soul
And the shaking of my trust
I cannot look for too long
For fear that I might drown
As in your eyes I see such depth
Those pools of deepest brown
So, my dear I write this ode
To your beauty and your grace
Resigned that only in my mind
Will I ever touch your face
That smooth yet rugged brow
I know that we're forbidden
Each held back by a sacred vow
You're heart-felt song calls to me
And answer you I must
Despite the danger to my soul
And the shaking of my trust
I cannot look for too long
For fear that I might drown
As in your eyes I see such depth
Those pools of deepest brown
So, my dear I write this ode
To your beauty and your grace
Resigned that only in my mind
Will I ever touch your face
