To have the gift of laughter
Is to see the face of God
To see yourself not seriously
Is not so very odd
Knowing that our actions
Just don't amount to much
Unless we've brought the laughter
We've really missed thr bus

An attempt to write a poem a day for a whole year... no guarantees on quality - just quantity!
A poem a day to keep brain rot away
Join me as I attempt to create a poem a day... whether awesome, bawdy, corny, dreadful, entertaining, fabulous, gross or hilariously hokey, I will try to string together everything from couplets to limericks - just for the fun of fiddling with words!
May 3rd, 2012
Today is quite a special day. I have actually reached the one year mark. I posted my first poem on May 3rd, 2011. I have had a great time doing this. It has basically become a habit and I don’t really want to stop. So, I am going to continue this thread because I have enjoyed it so much. It’s true that most of the poems were terrible. Some were good (or at least I thought so!) but mostly they were a reflection of something I either saw that day, thought of, felt or heard. In any case, I hope you have enjoyed the ride as much as I have. Here’s to letting the word out – come what may!

Full
Let us rock the world tonight
And gaze upon the stars
The moon is a full and big delight
Challenging even the angry mars
No wind can blow us over now
Since we chose to soar up and free
Flying through the air is how
We from now shall forever be

They're Back!
Yes, we'll miss you when you're gone
We missed you now and you're back already
But it truly felt like an eternity
Mashing your words together we know the game
The ruddy cheeks and balanced frame
All part of the fun that we expect
Now sing for us our modern bard
Bring the magic, let run down your spine
And carry us away on that brilliant rhyme
Yes, it's a nod and an wink to a band away for too long. Doesn't come close to matching the brilliant lyrics of their lyricist - but if you read carefully, you'll know who it is!

Tipping
What are the tides that brought us here
Those stranger waves that showed no fear
Now looking back the horizon's bleak
As we notice now we're hitting that peak
That turning point where we must choose
Or risk forever a mighty bruise
Those stranger waves that showed no fear
Now looking back the horizon's bleak
As we notice now we're hitting that peak
That turning point where we must choose
Or risk forever a mighty bruise

Red Crow Warning
Never a moment to feel let down
Never a moment to wear a crown
Leave it behind and hope for the best
Knowing inside your apart from the rest
Hoping one day that others will see
What inside you know just wants to be free
Maybe we'll wake and know from the score
That we might have chosen a very wrong door
But late it's not until the end
For all the rules we can certainly bend
Never a moment to wear a crown
Leave it behind and hope for the best
Knowing inside your apart from the rest
Hoping one day that others will see
What inside you know just wants to be free
Maybe we'll wake and know from the score
That we might have chosen a very wrong door
But late it's not until the end
For all the rules we can certainly bend
Late August
Reaching high among the leaves
The towering birches the shading trees
A touch of color brimming now
A hint of rouge to cheer each bough
Autumn's chill still far ahead
No rustic foliage has yet been shed
But just that hint of what's in store
Of frosted eaves and winter's roar
Is more than enough to make us steal
Enough sunshine to spin this wheel
The towering birches the shading trees
A touch of color brimming now
A hint of rouge to cheer each bough
Autumn's chill still far ahead
No rustic foliage has yet been shed
But just that hint of what's in store
Of frosted eaves and winter's roar
Is more than enough to make us steal
Enough sunshine to spin this wheel

Back
As you may have noticed, I've been rather quiet this week... I was away on a camping trip. There was no wifi and the roaming charges would have seriously dented my wallet, so there were no daily updates. As we just got back, I'm not ready to post any rhymes tonight, but I promise to be back as of tomorrow! Good night...

To the Wee Free Men!
The words all run together in a flurry of the best
A merry round of banter so different from the rest
No greater force than what a mind produces when given a chance
No purer art or character than those in this crazy dance

Seasons
The northern wind is blowing now
Gentle yet but cold somehow
Reminding us that the cycles change
And pushing us to expand our range
For winter's frost is future dust
So live for now is what we must

Down time
Shut up is all you say
Calm down is what you need
Anger from break of day
But peace is a spul's best feed

Sway
Dancing through a golden sea
Breathing deeply the chaff and wheat
A merry round of harvest bliss
Found early before the autumn mists

Visitor
Under skies of blue and yellow
We wafted through soft and mellow
Drinking in the lazy day
And letting each have their say
Sharing with new and wondrous eyes
Our favourite haunts under these skies

Bunny
Big girl is crying
Big crocodile tears
Asserting to us
That she's lived enough years
To stay up as late
As she wants in this case
To finish a flick
About a slick, stylish ace

Ring bling
Let's step up to reach that ring
That shiny one that reeks of bling
We all are vying for that same thing
In our own corner, in our own wing

Babe
All around we all know love
From the earth below to the stars above
Our ring of life we share by breath
And renew ourselves with every death
So join together now to sing
A joyous tune with a merry ring

Happy rhyme
A little laughter, a little cheer
Always drove away our fear
For some time to revel
Really is the best way to dwell!

Two weeks
Let's kick this off with a whoop and holler
We're released from the chains, the noose & collar
A mere two weeks of ease and life
No running around, stress or strife
We've made this choice and now we stand
Enjoying fruits of heart and hand

Wine
My blood ran hot and I must say
That I'm feeling really pretty good today
No longer held by worry's noose
I feel happy, free and loose
The music served to free my brain
The wine washed away that constant strain
That drags and drags and drags on me
While I just long to be set free
I hope to revel in this blissful state
Until I slip through this mortal gate

Path
Always one step behind
A straight path very hard to find
Leaving all else alone
Knowing the ills to which we're prone
Hoping for the thrill
Of having our mortal fill

Thoughts
An entitled pen
Forms characters strangely dull
But poor ones shine through

Dig
We dug in but the earth bit back
We used our soul but it gave no slack
A wonderous fight between each weed
Showing the strength that made men bleed
A gallant effort and in the end
Every ounce of spirit we had to spend

Tweet, tweet
Here we tweet a happy song
Answering fas when things go wrong
If skies are blue
Then there's less to do
But still there'll be
Work for you and me

Long day
Devoid of word I have to say
That although now 'tis end of day
I've found some measure of peace inside
As from the tempers I've managed to hide
