An ode to a year now winding down
You gave us much cause to frown
Yet in there was joy and happiness too
But we'll still be glad to be rid of you
So thanks for the good and maybe the bad as well

The diamond in my eye

Such a beauty divine,
Beyond the limits of time.
Symbol of perfection,
With a look so sublime.

To the dimonds we run,
Like the glow of the sun.
So shiny and bright,
It's got to be right.

The dimond in my eye,
Has no sparkle or shine.
It's blacker then night,
Absorbing all the light.

Weighed down by the world
And the pressures of life,
It lies in the dark,
In perpetual night.

A dimond can not be,
Without the pressure of time,
Or the absence of light.
The dimonds we see
did not just happen to be.

It's so easy to love the light,
For love is light.
But the realest thing in life,
Is to crawl into darkness
and bring out the light.

Really?

There was merriment one day
In a time, oh so far away
But it wasn't meant for me
For I had not yet been set free
I did not realize then
That such happiness would hardly be mine again
Yet such strides have been taken
That at times it feels the world's been shaken
And forward is the only way I'll look

Grey teeth smile back at me
Where white they once used to be
What happens when life hits you back
The wine, the rum and the fast track
The ciggies, the beer
The food and good cheer
Doesn't seem fair
That it's all etched right there
For all to know
Those pearly whites have lost their glow

Whose feet seemed always enmeshed

Another year come round the bend
This string of luck doesn't seem to end
No matter what we try to do
It seems like something's holding onto you
Maybe in time things will change
Maybe it's a just a question of moving out of range

Our insignificance immense
Yet we swagger and boast with such pretense
Believing in our strength and might
We subdue all around us with unfair fight

After show

I waited for you after the show
There with the others, with hearts aglow
Waiting and hoping for what can never be
Soaking up the words that create fantasy
But broken hearts are found far and wide
For you already walk with someone by your side
Not that a difference it would make
For there is no connection here to break

I walk home to where there's so much more

Double vision

Let's go through the looking glass to see what we can see
A world turned upside down I'll wager, a landscape of mystery
No simple way from here to there, vaporous clouds to smother
All spark of life and love and thought, so we needn't even bother
But this world is not so very different from the one we've left behind
A place of bitter cast off things we've no real wish to find

Bursting

Too much pressure
This pressure's got to stop
Too much pressure
It's getting to my head!

Yes, I've completely ripped off the lyrics, but they aptly described what I'm feeling right now. Here's one of my own...

Never did I think that I would feel this way
Just so much tension, I sense I'm starting to fray
Leaving for just a while is such a welcome break
That returning at the end is sometimes hard to take
Every step has lately been so fraught
With worry and things much better left forgot
I know something's gotta give
And when it does, I know, it'll be much easier to live
